This spring, the Felicia Carole Wilt Endowed Scholarship Fund was established at Alice Lloyd College by Ms. Wilt’s lifelong friend, Eddie Schmidt. The scholarship will be awarded to support the cost of tuition. Eligible candidates are those majoring in history, allied health and sciences, or wanting to enter an agriculture-related field.

This scholarship is named in honor of Ms. Felicia Carole Wilt. Ms. Wilt and Mr. Schmidt shared a familial bond for over 25 years and considered themselves “life partners.” A loving and caring person, Ms. Wilt helped Mr. Schmidt raise his two children and his granddaughter.

Ms. Wilt was born and raised in Columbia, Tennessee, but spent most of her life in Nashville, Tennessee. Ms. Wilt embodied the Volunteer spirit and devoted her life to serving others. A graduate of Vanderbilt University, she entered the medical field and retired as a Medical Lab Technician for Vanderbilt Hospital.

During her free time, Ms. Wilt participated in volunteer organizations and opportunities, such as serving on the Nashville Sports Council. Fascinated by history, Ms. Wilt served many historical and lineage societies at the national and state levels. She was most involved with the U.S. Daughters of 1812 and filled numerous leadership roles.

While a member of the U.S. Daughters of 1812, Ms. Wilt discovered Alice Lloyd College and began supporting the College’s Christmas Pretties Program through the association with donations of toys, gift cards, and more. For nearly twenty years, she collected donations from Nashville and drove them to Pippa Passes.

After Ms. Wilt’s passing in November 2021, Mr. Schmidt discovered her connection to Alice Lloyd College. Alice Lloyd College and its students held a place in Ms. Wilt’s heart, so Mr. Schmidt contacted the College to set up this scholarship in her honor.

“We are honored to help Mr. Schmidt establish this scholarship in Felicia’s memory. She was a wonderful friend to Alice Lloyd College and embodied the traits of The Purpose Road Philosophy that we work to instill in our students. I am pleased that her memory will live in perpetuity here at ALC,” said AVP for Advancement, Dr. Allison Southard.
