Appalachia Day Homecoming

After much consideration, prayer, and evaluation, we have made the tough decision to cancel our 2021 Appalachia Day Homecoming Festival. The health and well-being of our Eagle family is our top priority. Although Caney Creek will be quite lonely on October 9, 2021, we look forward to welcoming you home in October 2022. Please visit our website for the latest events in Pippa Passes. You can check out stories about our students and alumni who continue to shine as a light unto the mountains. May God bless you and your loved ones.

Alice Lloyd College holds its annual Appalachia Day Homecoming celebration every second Saturday of October. Hundreds of friends and alumni gather on campus to listen to traditional mountain music and peruse booths displaying the arts and crafts of Appalachian artisans. Other events which take place during this day of fun and fellowship include the annual Alumni Association Meeting, various athletic events, children’s storytelling, an Appalachian writers’ book signing, the induction of new members into the ALC Athletic Hall of Fame, the coronation of the Homecoming Queen and Princess, and the traditional soup bean supper.

Schedule of Events

Below is a tentative schedule of what we have planned for Our Appalachia Day Homecoming, which will be held on Saturday, October 9, 2021. The Appalachia Day Homecoming event is coordinated each year by the Office of Alumni Relations and the Office of Marketing & Communications.
