Alice Lloyd College is proud of its alumni. To us, you are family. Like all Appalachians, we are tied to our home in the mountains. We want you to come home to ALC whenever you like, and when you’re here, you will be welcomed back by one of these friendly faces in the Office of Alumni Relations.

Teresa Slone Grender is a 1977 graduate of Alice Lloyd College. Teresa has served as Director of Alumni Relations since 1991. Prior to returning to ALC, Teresa was Assistant Manager of Mountain Broadcasting Service, Inc., in Hazard, Kentucky, for twelve years. Teresa grew up in the Pippa Passes community where her father, Archie Slone, was postmaster for thirty-five years, and her mother, Shirlene Slone, operated the ALC Student Store. Teresa’s husband, Arnemann Grender, is a former ALC mathematics and science instructor. They have one son, Aspen. The Grender family resides on Caney Mountain in Pippa Passes.
Kala Thornsbury is a 2018 graduate of Alice Lloyd College. Upon graduation, she returned home to Lowmansville, Kentucky, where she worked as a bank teller for Inez Deposit Bank. In 2019, she decided to journey back to Pippa Passes and join the Office of Alumni Relations. As a student, Kala always claimed ALC to be her home away from home. Now, she is ready to make the College her home and stay connected with her fellow ALC Alumni.
