The Gatton Winston Scholars Program

Many of our alumni have benefited from Alice Lloyd’s Gatton Winston Scholars Program. This program, the only one of its kind in the nation, financially assists qualified alumni from our 108-county service area in Central Appalachia at graduate or professional schools upon completion of their program at Alice Lloyd College. Students attending the University of Kentucky live in ALC-owned housing near the campus. Those at other graduate schools receive cash stipends toward tuition if they qualify for a Gatton Winston Scholarship. These scholarships are offered on a competitive basis.

The College’s goal is to help our graduates as they pursue advanced degrees and then return these highly-educated Appalachians back to the region to become the catalysts for change. Eighty-three percent of you have come back to Appalachia and are working every day to provide the leadership the region needs to push forward into a brighter future.

Alice Lloyd College gives more to its students because it expects more of them. We only ask that our graduates give back to the region and to this college. We want to give every Appalachian student we can the gift of a quality education that will open doors to them that might otherwise remain closed forever. All our young people need is an opportunity. Continue to support the college that has remained steadfast in supporting you!
