ALC’s FBLA Collegiate, formerly Phi Beta Lambda, has been preparing weekend snack packs for Knott County elementary and high school students for the past 9 years. FBLA members were recognized by the Knott County Board of Education at their monthly meeting on January 9th, 2024.

The group began by providing 10 snack packs a week to students facing food insecurity at Jones Fork Elementary. This number quickly increased to 15 the second week of the program thanks to generous donations from the Alice Lloyd College campus community. Over time, the Nutrition Program has secured other donors from across the nation and is now able to deliver 60 snack packs each week. The number of schools that receive these snack packs has also grown. Students receive snack packs from FBLA’s Nutrition Program at Jones Fork Elementary, Beaver Elementary, and Cordia School.

This community service outreach depends on the generosity of donors who feel compelled to meet the needs of students facing food insecurity in Knott County and on the FBLA Collegiate members who are dedicated to this mission as well.
