Richmond, KY: The 2019 Alice Lloyd College Spring Invitational was held March 30th and 31st at the Battlefield Golf Club in Richmond, KY.  The weather was warm early, but conditions were windy the first day and much colder the second day. This tournament included both men’s and women’s teams.

On the women’s side, a total of seven teams and 42 players competed in the tournament. When the final results were tabulated, a strong squad from St. Mary’s College (IN) won the tournament, shooting 324/340 for 664 and a 23 stroke win over second place Grace College (IN).

Hunter Kehoe from St. Mary’s was the individual women’s champion, shooting 77/80 for 157,  with Taylor Kehoe of St. Mary’s placing second shooting 79/82 for 161.

On the men’s side, a total of nine teams and 52 players competed in the men’s tournament. Defending champion Indiana University- Kokomo won the men’s championship, shooting 299/304 for 603 and a 6 shot win over The University of Virginia at Wise.  The ALC Eagles battled quite well and ended the event, shooting 325/339 for 664 and 7th of 9 squads.

The individual championship was very competitive. Six strokes separated the top 10 players and 13 strokes separated the top 20 players. Jaime Fulve of Bethel College TN was the men’s individual champion shooting 70/75 for 145 and a one-stroke win over Jordan Hughes of Shawnee State University who shot 71/75.

For Alice Lloyd, captain Aaron Minor shot a career and school best 4 under 67 the first round and 80 the second round to finish 3rd at 147.

Brit Bowling was the second Caney Creek golfer to finish as he shot 86 the first round, and a very solid 81 the second round for 167, which earned him the 33rd position. Isaiah Penley shot 83/88 for 171 to finish 37th.

In addition, Korey Hanson shot 89/90 for 179, Hayden Halbert shot 97/95 for 192 to finish 48th and Matthew Henson shot 102/106 for 208 to finish 49th. There was a great improvement in all of the Eagles golfers in this tournament.
