The Alice Lloyd Eagles traveled to Kokomo, Indiana over the weekend to take on the newest addition to the KIAC, the Indiana University Kokomo Cougars. The Eagles defeated their conference rivals by a score of 79-57.

ALC was making its second trip to Indiana in a week, having unsuccessfully challenged the undefeated IU Southeast Grenadiers. In the first half, the contest stayed relatively close, but the Eagles inched away from Kokomo with each passing minute. Alice Lloyd enjoyed a nice advantage at halftime, leading the home team 36-25.

In the second half, the Eagles continued their excellent shooting and stayed tough on defense, increasing their lead and outscoring the hosts, 43-32. Late in the game, head coach J.R. Hammond cleared the bench as nearly every player on the team got in on the action.

ALC’s (10-9, 5-3 KIAC) Stuart Stamper had 20 points, making 10 shots on 15 attempts, while Cody Stumbo continued to stuff the stat sheet. The junior contributed 14 points, 4 assists and 4 rebounds. Tyler Rogers scored 11 while hauling in 7 boards and collecting 4 blocks and 3 steals. Senior point guard Isaac Wilson picked up 11 points and 7 big rebounds.

Nick Teeter led Kokomo (4-16, 2-9 KIAC) with 14 points.

The Eagles shot at a blistering 58.9% clip (33-for-56) from the floor and 42.9% from three-point range, while holding their opponents to a frigid 32.3% (20-for-62) for the game. The Cougars also struggled from behind the arc, connecting on only 5 of their 25 attempts.

Alice Lloyd will hit the road again on Tuesday, January 28th, for a meeting with Brescia University at 7 PM.
