Game two of the classic was played on Saturday, November 9th. This matchup between Alice Lloyd and Virginia Intermont was a much tighter battle as this one went back and forth all game long. The game featured ten ties and nine lead changes.

Neither team was able to seize control of the game as the Eagles were only able to take a three-point lead into the locker room, 37-34. The second half provided more drama as the Eagles were unable to build on their lead. Virginia Intermont would fight back by outscoring ALC, 43-40, and would take a three-point lead in the waning moments. In an exciting, dramatic sequence just prior to the end of regulation, ALC sophomore Trevor “Rudy” Combs drained a three to send the game into overtime.

In the extra period, the Cobras were able to show just a little more poise and gained the lead. Alice Lloyd was not quite done yet, though, as the Eagles hung around and had a chance to win the game late, but came up just short.

Cody Malicoat had another great performance for the Eagles. The sophomore forward produced a double-double with 21 points and 12 rebounds. Kuron Mitchell recorded 18 points and 5 assists.

Josh Hart and J.D. Tucker had 24 points each for Virginia Intermont.

The Eagles will take to the court again on Tuesday, November 12th, when they face the Bulldogs of Boyce College (Louisville, KY) at 6:00 PM.
