Berea, Ky. (April 29th, 2013) – The KIAC released the baseball All-Conference Team, Player of the Year, Pitcher of the Year, and Coach of the Year on Monday, April 29th. Alice Lloyd junior pitcher Neil Dillon (from Wayne, WV) was named to the exclusive All-Conference Team for the 2013 season.
Dillon finished in the top five in the KIAC in an incredible 10 categories out of 12 possible and was in the top eight in the other two. In a total of ten starts, the southpaw finished with the following numbers: 3rd in the conference in lowest ERA (2.67), 3rd in earned runs allowed (1.70), 3rd in total runs allowed (32), 3rd in innings pitched per game (5.73), 3rd in hits allowed (59), 4th in lowest opponent batting average (2.48), 4th in total walks allowed (16), 5th in walks allowed per game (2.51), 5th in strikeouts thrown per game (6.91), and 5th in total strikeouts (44), He was also 7th in hits allowed per game (9.26) and 8th in total innings pitched (57.1). Dillon is majoring in Physical Education (K-12), and currently maintains a 3.31 gpa.
Point Park University sophomore third baseman Jordan Crowell was named the KIAC Player of the Year. In 45 games this season, Crowell is batting .437 (59-for-135) with 37 runs batted in and 9 doubles. His .437 batting average ranks 2nd nationally in the NAIA.
Indiana University Southeast pitcher Elliott Fuller was named the KIAC Pitcher of the Year. Fuller pitched 60.2 innings over 10 games on the season and finished with a 0.89 earned run average. He had a 6-2 record and struck out 35 opposing batter on the season. The senior pitcher ranks 3rd in NAIA total earned runs allowed (6) and earned run average (0.89).
Point Park University head coach Loren Torres was named the KIAC Coach of the Year. Torres led the Pioneers to the regular season and conference tournament championships this season. Point Park is 38-13 on the season and will advance to the NAIA national tournament.
