The June Buchanan School’s ACE Club recently enjoyed an educational adventure and celebrated the holidays in New York City.  As an honors club which focuses on art and cultural enrichment, the students visited a variety of famous museums including the American Museum of Natural History, Museum of Modern Art, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Rather than just study about Van Gogh or Rembrandt, the students enjoyed seeing the art up close and appreciated it more than ever!  The kids also enjoyed experiencing “Journey to the Stars” at the Museum of Natural History’s Hayden Planetarium, the largest planetarium of its kind in the world.   Staying right on Times Square, the students loved the bright lights of the big city and saw the Broadway hit Spider–Man!, which was one of the highlights of the trip.  The kids were amazed with the special effects of this record-breaking show and even got to meet the actual Spiderman! From dining on dim sum at Ruby Foo’s, boating to see the Statue of Liberty, having hot dogs by the Brooklyn Bridge, and hanging out by Rockefeller Center’s famous Christmas tree, the ACE Club had an experience that they’ll always remember. They’re already planning more trips in the future, as they are always seeking more ways to appreciate the arts and other cultures.
