Our graduates are special people who have committed themselves to lives of service and are using their many talents to create a better tomorrow. Whether you are an entrepreneur, doctor, engineer, lawyer, or teacher, you are working every day to make the changes this region needs to build as storied a future as we have a past.
Alice Lloyd was wise to see that the Appalachian people were responsible for their own destiny, and this remains true today. Mindful of our heritage and determined in our present journey, we are hopeful for what is yet to come due to the fact that we are sending out the solutions this region needs one Appalachian student at a time. Our college community is like a close-knit Appalachian family, and our desire is to stay in touch with all of the people who began their life’s purpose on the banks of Caney Creek. Prepared to Succeed: Dr. Cody Reynolds
Dr. Cody Reynolds grew up in Phelps, Kentucky – a small town teetering on the edge of the Kentucky and West Virginia border. In high school, Cody was recognized as a Kentucky Governor’s Scholar, opening up the opportunity for scholarships to collegiate institutions statewide. However, something about Alice Lloyd College stood out to him – something about Pippa Passes felt like home. “Another small town with roots in service that quickly became the theme of my life,” he says.
ALC’s Third Annual Alumni Purpose Day
Alice Lloyd College hosted its third annual Alumni Purpose Day on June 11. Although distance and pandemic health guidelines separated alumni from each other and the College, the day was spent reconnecting through social media and sharing memories of time on the ALC campus.

Dear ALC Class of 2020, you know what perseverance looks like. You know that achievements are more than a trophy on a shelf. You know hard work isn’t always noticed by others, but is rewarding in itself. You know all these things and so much more not only because of the COVID-19 Pandemic but also because you are graduates of Alice Lloyd College.

Jana Herron: Embracing Every Second
Jana Herron, 1996 Alice Lloyd College alumna, was raised in Galax, Virginia. She now resides in Ooltewah, Tennessee, with her husband of nineteen years, Greg, and their two children, Marli and Lendi. After graduating from ALC, Jana completed her Master’s degree in Biology from EKU as a Caney Scholar in 1999. With a boundless passion for learning, she has taken classes toward a second Master’s in Apologetics at Luther Rice Seminary, and still has a strong desire to complete her Ph.D. in Biochemistry.
