This week in Pippa Passes was filled with events and exciting sports action. During the weekend, on February 4 the basketball teams took on Point Park University in an away doubleheader. The men’s team narrowly lost their matchup by a score of 72-68 while the women’s team won a defensive battle by a score of 56-51. On Tuesday, the Campbell Arts Center auditorium was home to two campus events, a convocation and a movie night. The convocation event featured guest speaker Zack Hall. You can read about Mr. Hall and the event here. At 7 pm, Student Activities hosted movie night, and gathered a good turnout for the event. On Wednesday, ALC’s ESports team began their regular season as the away team. They faced off against Thomas More University and were defeated in 2 of the 3 games.

            Thursday, February 9 was a busy, yet fun day in Pippa Passes. Students had a nice break from class at 1 pm when the Championship Intramurals Basketball Team (the Young Pups) took on a Faculty/Staff team (the Old Heads) in the Perry Campus Center on Coach J Court. The Old Heads controlled the game from before the tipoff and walked away victorious over the student team.

To close out Thursday in Pippa Passes, dormitory room checks were conducted by the resident advisors and the ALC ESports team hosted a trivia night. On Friday, the ALC Track and Field team started their competition in the NCCAA Indoor Track and Field National Championships that will conclude on Saturday, February 11. Also on Friday, the Lady Eagles Softball team opens their regular season against Morehead University.

Next week in Pippa Passes will feature lots of sports action, with a couple of community events as well. On Saturday, February 11, the ALC Track and Field team will conclude its Indoor Track season at the NCCAA Indoor Track and Field National Championships. Also on Saturday, the basketball teams will take on Ohio Christian University in a home doubleheader matchup with tip offs at 1pm and 3pm. To round out the weekend, Student Services will be hosting a Super Bowl watch party in CAC auditorium on Sunday.

Next Tuesday, the basketball teams will compete in another doubleheader at Rio Grande University. Then, on Wednesday, the baseball team will begin its season at Milligan. On Thursday, the Resident Advisors will host Open Dorms from 7pm to 9pm in the women’s dormitories (Hermann Hall and Carrick Hall). Also on Thursday, the Kinesiology 421 Class will host a cornhole tournament at 6 pm in the 2nd floor gym of the Perry Campus Center.
