Convocation Schedule Spring 23 A proud Creeker and former “Caney Crazy,” Mr. Zack Hall was the guest speaker for the most recent convocation, held on Tuesday, February 7, 2023. Mr. Hall is from nearby Hollybush and attended ALC while working at the Pippa Passes Police Department.

Mr. Hall is a producer and camera operator on hit tv shows such as “Deadliest Catch,” “Dirty Jobs,” “Life Below Zero,” “Expedition Bigfoot,” and many other shows televised worldwide. If you’ve ever turned on a TV or streaming app, you‘ve probably seen some of his work.

Mr. Hall has traveled the world, visiting over forty countries and every US State but one – North Dakota – in the past ten years documenting stories for National Geographic and Discovery Channel. Mr. Hall never forgets the call to service for his hometown, instilled in him by his time at ALC, and he still calls Pippa Passes home when he works to help the tourism industry grow in Southeast Kentucky.

Mr. Hall’s convo was filled with humor and fun as he cracked jokes and gave out gifts from numerous sets he worked on. All the while, however, Mr. Hall had a point in mind. As he elaborated on the exciting career that has led him all over the world, he kept coming back home in his story. Mr. Hall’s message to those in attendance was not to think that you cannot do something because of where you are from. Mr. Hall says his accomplishments were achievable because of his faith in God, because of his deep roots here, and because he follows the Purpose Road Philosophy.

All in attendance left the Campbell Arts Center Auditorium with smiles on their faces. Mr. Hall’s story was inspiring, his message powerful, and his interactive style captivating. When Mrs. Alice Lloyd saw the potential of the people here, she saw people like Zack Hall who go far and accomplish wonderful things while staying close to home and serving their communities.

The next convocation event is Thursday, February 9, in the Perry Campus Center. The event, hosted by the ALC Athletics Department, starts at 1 pm and features a basketball game between Faculty/Staff and the Student intramurals basketball team. Later this month, Cody Howard will perform in CAC at 1 pm on February 21, and the 30th Annual James V. Mongiardo Speech Competition will take place on February 28.
