This week in Pippa Passes featured student activities and exciting sports action. On Thursday, February 2, Student Activities hosted a video game tournament in the Perry Campus Center’s Student Lounge area and gave out $50 in prizes. The Resident Advisors hosted Open Dorm in the men’s dormitories (Berger-Auen Hall and Howard Hall) from 7pm-9pm on Thursday.

Over the weekend, ALC’s Basketball teams took on Midway University. In the Saturday doubleheader, both teams lost by small margins. The men and women’s basketball teams traveled to face Carlow University on Thursday, February 2. The Eagles defeated Carlow by a score of 90 to 53 and the Lady Eagles defeated Carlow by a score of 79 to 61. On the date of this publication, Friday, February 3, the track and field teams travel to compete in an indoor meet at Cedarville, Ohio and conclude their indoor track season strongly. ALC Track and Field will compete in the National Tournament next weekend before beginning their outdoor track and field season.

Next week in Pippa Passes will be filled with campus events, starting with a convocation in the Campbell Arts Center Auditorium from 1pm-2pm on Tuesday, February 7. The guest speaker for the event is Mr. Zach Hall, a producer and camera operator for hit TV. Mr. Hall’s roots trace back to nearby Hollybush, KY and Alice Lloyd College, which he attended while working for the Pippa Passes Police Department. The Campus Voice newsletter contains a list of all convocations in the month of February as well as their location and starting time. Later Tuesday evening, at 7pm, Student Activities will host a movie night in CAC Auditorium.

On Thursday, February 9, Student Activities and Intramurals will be hosting a Faculty/Staff Basketball Game starting at 1 pm at Coach J Court in the Perry Campus Center. The event is sponsored by the ALC Athletics Department and students may receive a convo credit by signing in to receive a bracelet that must be returned at the end of the event. Resident Advisors will conduct Dorm Checks Thursday night.

In sports, ALC’s athletics teams have a busy week ahead of them. Saturday, February 4, the basketball teams face off in a doubleheader against Point Park in Pittsburgh, PA. On Friday, February 10, the ALC Track and Field teams will compete in the NCCAA Indoor Track and Field National Championships in Cedarville, OH. The meet will continue on Saturday as well. Also on Friday, February 10, the Lady Eagles Softball Team will begin its season as they travel to Morehead State University.  For more information about athletics, such as schedules, rosters, and scores, check out our ALC Athletics Page here.
