Alice Lloyd College is honored to have 1982 alumnus Jerry L. Edwards as the 2022 commencement speaker. Mr. Edwards is a native of Harlan County, Kentucky, where he graduated from Lynch High School in 1977. He was a member of the first 4-year class at ALC, and after graduation, he continued his educational pursuit by completing a 5th-year college certificate/master’s equivalent.

For over three decades, Mr. Edwards has dedicated his life to serving the youth of Appalachia. Affectionately known as “Coach E” in his community, he served the Harlan County School District for 32 years as a teacher and coach. Staying active in retirement, he continues to work in the local school system as a bus driver and as a teaching assistant working with autistic students. Mr. Edwards has proudly served as a trustee of Alice Lloyd College for eleven years. He is also a member of the Alice Lloyd College Teacher Education Committee and the Alice Lloyd College Class of 1982 Award Committee.

ALC baccalaureate and commencement will be held in the Perry Campus Center on May 7. Baccalaureate will begin at 10:30 am followed by commencement at 12:15 pm.
