This week, Alice Lloyd College welcomed Sheri Smith, founder of The Indigo Company, to campus for two days of engaging workshops and one-on-one sessions with students, faculty, and staff. Her visit was made possible through the generosity of Mr. Tom Lewis, of the T.W. Lewis Foundation, whose support continues to enhance the educational experience for ALC students.

During her time on campus, Smith guided the community through the results of the Indigo Assessment, a nationally recognized tool that helps individuals understand their behaviors, motivators, and skills. For students, the assessment provides valuable insight into their God-given strengths, highlighting their intrinsic value, and giving them practical strategies to navigate college successfully, pursue meaningful careers, and become leaders in their communities.

Workshops included interactive discussions, personal development exercises, and dedicated time for students, faculty, and staff to reflect on their results. Freshman students shared how the experience gave them a clearer sense of purpose and confidence as they look toward their next four years along The Purpose Road.

Allison Southard, Vice President for Advancement at Alice Lloyd College, expressed deep gratitude for the impact of this partnership: “We are so thankful to the T.W. Lewis Foundation for making this opportunity possible. Their generosity is giving us the opportunity to provide new tools and resources that empower our students, not just for their years on campus, but for their entire lives.”

The College remains committed to offering programs that foster leadership, self-awareness, and personal growth. Thanks to the continued support of donors across the country, ALC students receive a high-quality, character-based education here in the heart of the Appalachian Mountains.
