At 7:30 pm on the night of Wednesday, January 24th, Alice Lloyd College’s Student Activities staff hosted a special event in the Perry Campus Center Auxiliary Gym that drew a fantastic turnout. Over 60 students entered the Student Services sponsored laser tag tournament and comprised 16 teams of 4 members each.
The tournament was single elimination style and lasted four rounds, with winners of each match battling it out until only 2 teams remained for the championship match. Matches had a time limit of 7 minutes, but play went fast and the longest match lasted only half of the allotted time. The arena itself was dimly lit with black lights and the scene was blurred with fog. The course had numerous obstacles, perfect for hiding and ambushing.
ALC student Micah Turner participated in the event and made it through the first rounds of the tournament. He said “the laser tag tourney was a fun experience for everyone and I can’t wait for the next one!” Student Activities Staff Ryne Loggins said “the event went well and I feel like everyone enjoyed playing.” He is thankful for everyone who helped with the event and made it possible. In light of the event’s huge success, Student Activities is planning to have another tournament soon, so students should be watching their emails and reading The Campus Voice student newsletter for news and information about future laser tag tournaments and student activities.
