This Week in Pippa Passes will be filled with student activities and exciting sports action ahead of the extended weekend.

Sports:
Over the weekend, ALC’s Lady Eagles volleyball team began their season against Johnson University at the Perry Campus Center. The Lady Eagles were defeated 3-0 but have an opportunity to bounce back on Tuesday, August 29th at the University of Pikeville. The women’s volleyball team is also schedule to play Goshen College Maple Leaf this Saturday, September 2nd.

In other sports news, ALC’s Men’s and Women’s Soccer teams will begin their seasons on Labor Day (September 4th) at Southwest Community College. Men’s and Women’s Golf began competition in the UPike Fall Invitational on August 27th. Play will continue through Tuesday, August 29th. ALC Men’s Golf will compete in Pioneer Match Play at the University of Campbellsville, Harrodsburg on September 1st-3rd.

Student Government:
Last week, students interested in participating in ALC’s Student Government Association registered to run for office and began their campaigns. This week the campaigns are winding down before voting opens on Wednesday, August 30th in the first-floor foyer of the Davis Student Center.

SGA is very active on campus, and last year’s SGA officers hosted a Kentucky Blood Center blood drive on campus last week. To read more about the blood drive, click here, and to read more about ALC’s Student Government Association, click here.

R.A. News:
This week in Pippa Passes, the Resident Advisors will be conducting Dormitory Checks in all residence halls. Room checks will take place on the evening of Tuesday, August 29th. The R.A.s will be hosting Women’s Open Dorms this week as well, on Thursday, August 31st. Student Services wishes to remind students that there will be no opposite sex visitation in the residence halls over Labor Day weekend (September 1st-4th).

Other News:
In other news, Tuesday, August 29th is a required convocation for full-time students at 1pm in the Campbell Arts Center and yearbook photos will be taken from 9am-11am and at 2pm in Cushing Hall.

The Hunger Din will be closed during the holiday weekend. Supper on Friday, September 1st will be the last meal served in the cafeteria until Breakfast on Tuesday, September 5th.

There will be no classes on September 4th, Labor Day.
