This week in Pippa Passes will be busy with convocations and exciting sports action, but first, a quick shout-out to our Lady Eagles Basketball Team. The Lady Eagles represented Alice Lloyd College well as they played in the NCCAA D1 Women’s Basketball National Championship. The Lady Eagles made it to the semifinals where they fell to Oakland City University by 1 point. Overall, they placed fourth in the Championship and made us proud.

In sports this week, the baseball and softball teams will have an intense week as they face numerous opponents. The softball team will play Tuesday at Pikeville University, Wednesday at home against Indiana University Southeast, and Thursday at home against Brescia University. The baseball team will take on Maranatha Baptist at home on Tuesday and University of the Cumberlands in an away game on Wednesday before traveling to take on Indiana University Southeast on Friday and Saturday.

In addition to sporting events, students have convocations and other campus events to look forward to this week in Pippa Passes. On Tuesday at 1 pm in the Campbell Arts Center ALC will host a convocation event about the life of Charles Young. Then, on Thursday at 1 pm in the Campbell Arts Center, ALC’s Phi Beta Lambda is hosting a convocation called ‘Blue Jeans for Babies’ in support of the March of Dimes. Students may donate $1 in order to wear jeans to this program in which a history of March of Dimes will be presented along with stories of families and babies who have been helped by this organization.

This week is also registration week for the fall 2023 semester. Registration opened at midnight and will continue through Friday. Residential students wishing to reside in their same dormitory room next semester may sign up for that room Monday through Friday this week as well; a detailed schedule for housing sign-ups will be sent to all students from Housing Director, John Mills.

There will be a talent show on Thursday at 7 pm in the Campbell Arts Center. The Resident Advisors will be hosting Women’s Open Dorm in Carrick Hall and Hermann Hall on Thursday evening as well. Student Services wishes to remind ALC students that R.A.s are needed for all five residence halls next semester so interested students should pick up applications from DSC 205 and turn them in by April 14th.

Next week, on Wednesday the 29th, the Student Government Association is hosting the last Blood Drive of the semester in Cushing Hall from 11 am until 3 pm.
