Last week in Pippa Passes was filled with sports action and campus events. On Friday, February 10th and Saturday the 11th, the ALC Indoor Track and Field Qualifiers competed in the NCCAA National Championships and represented Alice Lloyd College well. Also on Saturday, the basketball teams faced off against Ohio Christian University. The men’s team defeated their opponents 82-69 and the women won their matchup 78-65. The weekend concluded with a well attended Super Bowl watch party hosted by Student Activities.

During the school week, the basketball teams fell to strong RIO Grande teams on Tuesday and Baseball opened its season against Milligan. ALC’s ESports teams lost close matches with Midway University on Wednesday. The Kinesiology 421 class hosted a cornhole tournament in the Perry Campus Center and the Resident Advisors hosted Open Dorms in Hermann and Carrick Halls on Thursday. The school week ended with a basketball doubleheader against West Virginia Tech and with Softball opening their season against Concordia. The basketball teams defeated WVU Tech with the Eagles scoring 88 over their opponents’ 69 and the Lady Eagles scoring 69 to the Golden Bears’ 56. The Lady Eagles Softball team fell to Concordia in close contests.

This week in Pippa Passes will be even busier, starting with a convocation on Tuesday, the 21st. The convocation will be in the Campbell Arts Center Auditorium (CAC) at 1 pm and will feature guest performer Cody Howard. For more information about the event, click here. Later in the evening Student Activities will host a movie night in CAC and the Baseball team will take on the University of Pikeville.

On Wednesday 22nd, the basketball teams will each take on Indiana University Southeast in the River States Conference Tournament. The Men play away at 7pm and the women play at home at 7pm. On Thursday 23rd, Student Activities will host a Valentine’s Dance at 8:30pm in Cushing Hall, the Resident Advisors will conduct Dorm Room Checks in all dorms, and the Lady Eagles Softball team will take on Berea in an away game. The Eagles Baseball team will face off against Pikeville at 3pm on the 24th.

The week will conclude with a baseball game on Friday the 25th as the Eagles take on Wright State-Lake Campus starting at 1pm. During the weekend, the Lady Eagles Softball team will play against Miami-Hamilton with games starting at 1pm.
