FLORENCE, KY. — Midway (Ky.) University led from wire to wire to win its second consecutive River States Conference Men’s Golf Championship this week at Belterra Golf Club.

Midway now advances to the NAIA Men’s Golf National Championship as the RSC’s automatic team qualifier. The national tournament is May 17-20 at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Ill.

Indiana University East took runner-up team honors, and Indiana University Kokomo placed third. The top three teams remained the same after each round. IU East and IU Kokomo both had their best rounds on Tuesday shooting 300 and 301 on the final day, respectively.

Out of 12 teams that participated, the Alice Lloyd Eagles (Ky.) finished in 11th position.

61 individuals took to the links for the three-day event. For ALC, they were led by Mason Compton. His combined three-day total of 243 tied him for the 26th position. After a rough start, his final round score of 75 tied for the sixth-best of the day.

In addition, Korey Hanson (258), Hayden Halbert (281), and Matthew Fitch (297) also represented the Eagles.

Also named was the RSC Men’s Golf Champions of Character Team. One member from each school was nominated by their coach for best displaying the five-character values of the NAIA: respect, responsibility, integrity, servant leadership, and sportsmanship. For Alice Lloyd College (KY), Korey Hanson received this award.
