Pippa Passes, KY: The homestanding Alice Lloyd College Lady Eagles overcame a slow start by dominating the last two periods and defeated the visiting Brescia Lady Bearcats, 89-59. The River States Conference matchup took place Tuesday, February 15th.

In the opening period, ALC came out with a quick 8-2 run in the first two minutes. However, BU regrouped and promptly rolled off a 20-8 run the rest of the way, and led 22-16 after ten minutes of action.

In the second quarter, Lady Eagle junior guard Hannah Kash heated up to the tune of 10 points. Her scoring helped ALC take the period 22-13 and the scoreboard would read 38-35, ALC, at intermission.

As the third period began, Kash would continue her hot hand as she and senior guard Ali May would provide 16 points between them to lead a big 29-point quarter.  Alice Lloyd would blow out to a 67-47 cushion heading into the final stanza.

In the last ten minutes, any hopes the Lady Bearcats had of a big comeback were dashed as the ALC defense held them to just 12 points while pumping in 22 of their own. Coach John Mills was able to empty his bench and see his club earn the important victory.

For Alice Lloyd (17-8; 10-6 RSC), Kash drained 9-13 field goals and 4-7 bombs to lead all scorers with 23 points. She added 5 rebounds and 3 steals. Senior guard Haley Hall finished with 15 points, 4 assists, and a game-high 8 rebounds, while May provided 12 points, 4 rebounds, and 4 assists. Freshman forward Madison Thompson contributed 8 rebounds, while sophomore guard Hannah Malcomson chipped in with 8 points.

The Caney Club finished shooting 43.8% (33-75) from the field and 39.3% (11-28) from long range. They connected on 66.7% (12-18) from the charity line, while adding 58 rebounds, 25 assists, and 9 steals.

Brescia (3-23; 2-15 RSC) was paced by Jacqueline Jackson with 11 points. Her squad finished shooting 31.8% (21-66) from the field and 24% (6-25) from behind the arc. They sank 55% (11-20) from the foul line., and added 35 rebounds, 13 assists, and 12 steals.

The Lady Eagles conclude the regular season on Saturday when they battle Saint Mary of the Woods (IN) for a 4:00 pm conference showdown.
