Pippa Passes, KY: The Alice Lloyd College Lady Eagles took off in the second quarter and rode that momentum all the way to a solid 99-65 victory over the Carlow (PA) Lady Celtics. The River States Conference matchup was played Wednesday afternoon, February 9th.

In the opening period, ALC would lead 13-7 at the 4:37 mark before Carlow regrouped and drained several big shots to stop the run. Despite 7 points from Lady Eagle senior center Alexandria Clifton, the guests would close the stanza on a 13-7 run of their own to knot the score at 20-20 after ten minutes of action.

In the second quarter, the senior backcourt duo of Haley Hall and Ali May would combine for 15 points, while sophomore guard Hanna Malcomson contributed 7 more to lead the hosts to a 29-15 advantage. This would propel Alice Lloyd to a 49–35 cushion by intermission.

As the third period began, the Lady Eagles would ramp up their offense as 7 players produced a combined 30 points. As a result, the Kentucky squad would vault ahead, 79-49 entering the last quarter.

In the final ten minutes, the Caney Creek faithful would see freshman guard Madison Ward score half of her team’s 20 points as everyone got in on the action to seal the deal on a needed victory.

For the victors (16-7; 9-5 RSC), four players would reach double-figures. They were led on the night by Hall and May, each with 15. Clifton added 13 while Ward chipped in with 10. Junior guard Hannah Kash led everyone with 6 assists. Thompson hauled down 12 rebounds, while freshman center Kristen Cole-Williamson grabbed 11 rebounds of her own. Hall, Thompson, and Malcomson each had 2 steals.

The Caney Club finished shooting 44% (33-75) from the field and 25.9% (7-27) from long range. They connected on 83.9% from the charity line (26-31), while adding 61 huge rebounds, 19 assists, and 10 steals.

Carlow (8-19; 0-13 RSC) was paced by Megan Lydon with 17 points. Her squad finished shooting 32.8% (22-67) from the field and 25.8% (8-31) from behind the arc. From the foul line, they finished 65% (13-20). They also added 32 rebounds, 15 assists, and 11 steals.

The Lady Eagles close the week on Saturday, February 12th at Oakland City University. Tip-off is set for 4:00 pm (EST).
