Owensboro, KY:  Five players hit double figures to propel the Alice Lloyd College Eagles to a convincing 87-63 victory over the Brescia University Bearcats. The River States Conference tilt was held on Saturday afternoon in Owensboro.

In the first half, the Eagles would see four different players score as they jumped out to an 11-2 lead. The visitors would hold a 6-10-point advantage the majority of the way, but foul difficulties would aid the Bearcats in making a late run. ALC would lead 38-35 at intermission.

In the second half, the Caney Creek crew would pick up the tempo on offense and clamp down on defense. With the score knotted at 41-41 early on, junior guard Bryce Slone would bag back-to-back trifecta to spark an 11-0 run that gave the Eagles a 52-41 lead with 14:45 remaining. Thanks to solid contributions from sophomore guard Ben Soumahoro, junior forward Will Philpot, senior guard Noah Young, and junior center Colyn Sturgill, the Eagles were not done.

Over the next four-minute stretch, ALC would use a 16-10 spurt that permitted them to extend the advantage even further. After the 27-10 total outburst, the Pippa Passes boys would lead 68-41 and control the contest the remainder of the way to earn the nice victory.

For the victors (12-0, 5-0 RSC), five players reached double figures. Soumahoro sank 5-9 field goals to finish with 17 points, while Philpot hit 6-9 shots and finished with 16 points. Sturgill provided an 11-point, 10 rebound double-double on 5-9 field goals. Slone and Young each added 10 points while Young delivered 6 assists.

Alice Lloyd shot 51.6 % (32-62) from the floor and 46.7 % (7-15) from behind the arc. They finished 88.9% (16-18) from the foul line. They also gained 35 rebounds, while adding 12 assists, 5 steals, and 1 block.

BU (3-7; 2-2 RSC) was led by Michael Caswell with 15 points. His squad shot 41.5% (27-65) from the floor, and 38.9% (7-18) from behind the arc. They finished 67% (2-3) from the foul line, and also had 24 rebounds, 5 assists, and 6 steals.

The Eagles return to action on Sunday, December 12th, with a non-conference exhibition tilt at NCAA DI Northern Kentucky University. Tipoff is set for 2:00 pm. They then return home on Tuesday, December 14th when they face St. Mary of the Woods in RSC play at 3:00 pm.

The last contest before Christmas will be on Saturday, December 18th, with a non-conference exhibition tilt at NCAA DI Morehead State University. Tipoff is set for 4:00 pm.
