Harrodsburg, KY: Coach Scott Cornett’s Alice Lloyd College Eagles unleashed a balanced onslaught on both ends of the floor and rode that to defeat a high-scoring Campbellsville University-Harrodsburg outfit, 89-58. The matchup took place on December 7th.

In the opening half, things started slowly as neither team could find the mark. With 9:51 remaining, ALC only led 17-15 in a tight contest. From that point, things would drastically change as the Eagle bench provided a massive spark.

On the defensive end, the Pippa Passes boys tightened up immensely, basically shutting down their foes. On offense, the sophomore duo of forward Noah Caudill and guard Ben Soumahoro would provide a potent 1-2 punch off the bench, combining for 21 first-half points. Over the remainder of the way, the Eagles closed the half on a 27-10 spurt and would take a 42-25 advantage into the locker room at intermission.

UC Harrodsburg entered the contest averaging over 81 points per game, and the visitors knew they would have to keep the pressure on their dangerous opponent. In the second half, the Caney Creek crew would do just that as junior guard Bryce Slone and senior guard Noah Young would each nail a flurry of jumpers. When Slone swished a 28-foot bomb at 10:55, it capped off a stunning 31-13 blitz and gave the Eagles a 73-38 cushion. From that juncture, the only thing remaining to be settled was the final score. Everyone would get in on the action as Alice Lloyd would maintain a lead over 30 points the remainder of the way in chalking up the impressive victory and remaining undefeated.

Five players would reach double digits for the victors (11-0). Caudill would lead the way with 16 points on 7-12 FG. He also snagged eight boards. He was followed in scoring by Slone (5-8 3FG), Soumahoro (7-8 FG), and sophomore forward Damon Tobler (7-14 FG), who all scored 15 points. Young (5-7 FG) added 10 points, six assists, and two steals. In addition, junior forward Will Philpot added 8 points and 12 big rebounds, while junior center Colyn Sturgill swatted four shots. Freshman guard Marquis Frazier added four assists.

Alice Lloyd shot 60% (39-71) from the floor and 55.6% (8-15) behind the arc. They finished 60% (3-5) from the foul line. They also ruled the glass, grabbing 47 rebounds while adding 15 assists, seven steals, and five blocks.

Tyron Duncan led Harrodsburg (6-5) with 17 points. His squad shot 30% (21-70) from the floor and 23.1% (6-28) behind the arc. They finished 67% (10-15) from the foul line and had 37 rebounds, eight assists, and six steals.

The Eagles return to action this Saturday, December 11th, when they travel to Owensboro to face River States Conference opponent Brescia University in an important doubleheader matchup with the Lady Eagles. Tipoff for this contest (held in the Central time zone) is set for 2:00 pm (EST) for the men and 4:00 pm for the women.
