We split the ALC Men’s Student-Athlete of the Week honor between senior cross-country flash Ryan Morris, who ran an impressive race at the NCCAA DII National Cross-Country Championships, held in Joplin, MO, and junior basketball player Will Philpot.
Morris, a native of Dryden, Virginia, finished 4th at the nationals on November 14th. He completed the 8K course of 5 miles in 27:20. This time also set a new national tournament school record for the men. For his performance, he was named NCCAA All-American for the third consecutive season
Philpot led Alice Lloyd to a 2-0 week over two NCAA schools as he averaged 15.5 points and 11 rebounds per game.
In a 94-75 victory against NCAA DIII Berea College, Philpot poured in 22 points on 9-13 field goals while ripping down 12 rebounds. In a 76-69 road victory over NCAA DII Emory & Henry College, he just missed his third double-double of the year as he scored 9 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.
For the week, he shot 61.9% from the field. He also added 3 blocks, 2 assists, and 1 steal. The Eagles are currently 3-0 on the year.
