Pippa Passes, KY: The Alice Lloyd College Eagles, under the guidance of Coach Scott Cornett, opened the 2021-22 season by hosting the University of Campbellsville-Harrodsburg Pioneers on Saturday, November 6th. Although first-game jitters were evident, the Eagles earned a nice 71-66 victory.

In the opening half, things started well for the visitors as they pulled out to a five-point cushion. The Pippa Passes squad would respond with a late flurry and take a 39-35 lead at intermission.

In the second half, ALC would get some nice buckets from forward Damon Tobler and pull out to a double-digit lead. Although the Pioneers would knock down a few late shots to close the gap, Caney Creek forward Will Philpot would drain some clutch free throws to seal the deal for the home team

For the victors (1-0), they had three players reach double figures. Tobler led the way with 16 points and added 9 rebounds. Senior guard Noah Young added 12 points and a game-high 4 assists. Philpot added 12 points and led the way by ripping down 16 huge rebounds. Senior center Colyn Sturgill swatted 6 shots.

Alice Lloyd shot 42.3% (25-59) from the floor, and 33.3% (6-18) from behind the arc. They finished 60%% (15-25) from the foul line. They also had 42 rebounds, 14 assists, and 4 steals.

CH (1-2) was led by Chris Rawlins with 22 points. Alice Lloyd plays their next game on Tuesday, November 9th when they host Berea College at 7:00 pm.
