Joplin, MO:  The Alice Lloyd College Cross Country Team was honored today as two of their own were named to the NCCAA DII All-American squad. Only the top five finishers in the NCCAA National Cross-Country Tournament receive this award, so only the absolute best-of-the-best are honored.

For the Alice Lloyd College Lady Eagles, Carlee Salyers was one of the elite recipients. Salyers, a native of Wise (VA), finished 2nd at the nationals on November 12th. She completed the 5K course of 3.1 miles in 19:31. This time was a new national tournament school record for the women and was only two seconds off her overall school-record time. She was also the recipient of the NCCAA’s most prestigious award given for women’s Cross Country, the Ray Bullock Award.

For the Alice Lloyd College Eagles, senior Ryan Morris was one of the elite recipients. Morris, a native of Dryden (VA), finished 4th at the nationals on November 12th. He completed the 8K course of 5 miles in 27:20. This time also set a new national tournament school record for the men.

This makes the third year both Salyers and Morris have been honored as All-Americans

In addition, five members of the Lady Eagles were also named as NCCAA Scholar-Athletes. To receive this honor, one must be a junior academically and maintain a minimum 3.4 GPA. They were, Cara Acey, Emily Brock, Hannah Bryant, Carlee Salyers, and Abigail Webb.

Also, two members of the Eagles were named as NCCAA Scholar-Athletes. To receive this honor, one must be a junior academically and maintain a minimum 3.4 GPA. They were Sean Cooper and Preston Mullins.
