Pippa Passes, KY: On September 17th and 18th, the Alice Lloyd College Lady Eagles volleyball squad played host to NCCAA foe, Great Lakes Christian College. After the smoke had cleared, the Pippa Passes ladies sent the Crusaders back to Michigan with four consecutive defeats.

September 17th: Game 1

In the opening game, the Lady Eagles gave a great effort as they jumped ahead 11-3. This one was never in doubt as the hosts cruised to the 25-15 win.

In game 2, ALC used a 9-1 burst to sprint ahead 17-5, on their way to the easy 25-17 win.

In the clincher, the Caney Creek crew extended an 8-5 lead to 21-7 with an explosive display. This one was never in doubt and ended 25-17.

 On the day for ALC, freshman Jayden Rogers and senior Jasmine Hamilton led with 7 and 6 kills apiece. Junior Adrianna Riley led the squad with 21 digs while sophomore Kristin Issac recorded 10 assists and 5 aces. Junior Elizabeth McIntosh recorded 3 blocks.

 

Game 2

In the second match, the Lady Eagles opened by doing no wrong. They ran away 20-5 and earned the dominant 25-7 win.

In Game 2, the squads traded points before the Kentucky girls unleashed a 15-5 blitz to vault ahead 20-10. The blue and white would then cruise to the 25-17 victory.

In Game 3, the Lady Crusaders refused to roll over and battled within striking distance. However, it was still to no avail as ALC steadily maintained a cushion to ensure the big win, 25-19.

On the day for ALC, Cheek led with 8 kills while Riley had 9 digs and 9 assists. Hamilton recorded 4 blocks, and senior Mckenzie Brewer led the squad with 2 aces.

September 18th: Game 3

In the opening game of Day 2, the Lady Eagles would face a determined GLC club. The Lady Crusaders looked like a different squad, as they leaped ahead 5-14. ALC chipped away, but still trailed 17-21. Fortunately for the home fans, Coach Nathan Hall’s squad then reeled off eight consecutive points to blow by the stunned Michigan squad, and win 25-21.

In game 2, ALC pulled away from a 10-7 advantage by going on a 10-4 roll (20-11), then proceeded to take the contest, 25-16.

In the clincher, the Caney Creek crew had a tussle on their hands, tied at 10-10. However, there was no need to worry as the Lady Eagles reeled off one of their patented runs and took the match 25-17.

On the day for ALC, Cheek led with 10 kills. Riley led the squad with 21 digs while Parsons recorded 19 assists and 5 aces. Hamilton and junior Reiley McCoy both recorded 2 blocks.

Game 4

In the second match, the Lady Eagles had to fight for everything against GLC, who led almost the entire way of Game 1. ALC finally tied things at 21-21, the promptly closed the contest with four consecutive kills (25-21).

In Game 2, the Pippa Passes ladies roared out of the gate, 21-8. The blue and white would then cruise to the 25-12 victory.

In Game 3, the Lady Crusaders refused to go away quietly and really worked to earn the win. Yet again, ALC refused to be denied and managed to hold on to their lead and close the night with a nice 25-19 victory.

On the day for ALC, Cheek led with 11 kills while senior Jenni Droke had 16 digs. Parsons handed out 18 assists, McIntosh recorded 5 blocks, and sophomore Sierra Dawson led the squad with 3 aces.
