We award the Female Student-Athlete of the Week honor to Outdoor Track/Field athlete Riley Schreck.

In the River States Conference Tournament, which was held in Eaton, Ohio, Schreck, became the first Track/Field athlete in school history to win an event in that meet. The freshman earned 1st Place in the women’s Javelin, as she unleashed a throw of 33.80 meters to bring home the medal. Her winning toss beat the 2nd Place finisher (29.34) by almost 4.5 meters. This distance was both a school and a personal record.

More impressive is the fact that Ironton, Ohio, native is completely new to the sport, as she never attempted Track and Field until this season. This was only the 3rd event of her life, and all were held this month.

She has now qualified for the NCCAA Outdoor Track and Field Nationals, which will be held May 12th-14th in Greenville, Illinois.
