Danville, KYCoach John Driskill’s Men’s and Women’s Track and Field teams traveled to Bluegrass country over the weekend to compete in the Centre College Invitational. The event featured 14 squads from various levels of affiliation.

In women’s action, freshman Riley Schreck uncorked a 96’4’ throw in the Javelin which qualified her for the NCCAA Nationals. Her 6th place finish out of 23 participants also earned 3 points for the team.

Freshman Sarah Cecil (1:06.25) placed 7th in the 400M run, and earned 2 points for the squad, while senior Kimberly Lee came through with an 8th place finish in the Discus throw. Her toss of 30.69m was her best this season and earned 1 point for the Lady Eagles. For the event, the Lady Eagles wound up 12th out of 12 competing clubs.

In men’s action, sophomore Avery Jenkins ran a time of 1:02.11 to finish 1st out of 6 competitors in the 400M Hurdles. His victory earned 10 big points for the club. Freshman Andre Harless (1:03.79) finished 4th in the same event and earned 5 points.

Senior Mark Slusher finished 7th out of 24 competitors in the Javelin throw. His distance of 117’0’ was worth 2 points. Jenkins performed double-duty as he also finished 8th in the high jump, with a leap of 1.70 m. This enabled his squad to pick up 1 needed point.

In addition, the Eagles 4×100 Team (Jenkins, Harless, Gabe Price, Cam Worrix) earned 6 team points with a 3rd Place finish in that event, while the 4x 400 Team (Micah Blankenship, Cory Mason, Owen Lindsey, Preston Mullins) also earned 1 point for their placement

For the event, the Eagles wound up 9th out of 14 competing clubs.
