Rio Grande, OH: Coach John Driskill’s Men’s and Women’s Track and Field teams traveled to the Buckeye state on Friday, April 16th to compete in the Art Lanham Invitational, hosted by Rio Grande University. The event featured 10 women’s and 12 men’s squads from various levels of affiliation.
In women’s action, the Lady Eagles performed well and wound up 3rd out of 10 competing clubs.
Individually, 11 athletes placed in their events. Standouts include freshman Riley Schreck, who uncorked a 29.25m throw in the Javelin to take 1st place, and fellow freshman Sarah Cecil, who dominated the 100m Hurdles, winning that event in 17:29. Both victors earned 10 points for the team. Additionally, senior Kimberly Lee placed in three field events. Her highest finish was 3rd in the Javelin (25.25m)
On the men’s end of things, the Eagles performed well and wound up 3rd out of 12 competing clubs
Individually, 11 athletes also placed in their events. Standouts include freshman Anthony Hidalgo who ran the 3000m Run in 9:32, good enough for 2nd place, and fellow freshman Andre Harless who earned a 2nd place finish of his own in the 400m Hurdles (1:02.87). Additionally, senior Mark Slusher finished 3rd in the Hammer throw (43.94m) while sophomore Avery Jenkins finished 3rd in the High Jump, with a leap of 1.68 m. Furthermore, both the Lady Eagles and Eagles 4×800 team finished 2nd. For full results of all events, go to:
