The Alice Lloyd College Department of Athletics has announced the introduction of two new sports teams for the upcoming school year.
Beginning in the fall of 2021, Men’s and Women’s Soccer will be added to the Eagles Athletic program. John Driskill and Juan Lander will serve as Co-Head Coaches of both squads. Driskill and Lander will perform triple-duty as Coach Driskill is Head Coach of the Men’s and Women’s Outdoor Track teams, and Assistant coach to Men’s and Women’s Cross Country. Coach Lander serves as an Assistant Coach on the Eagles Baseball Team, and an Assistant Coach for the Men’s Basketball Team. Former JBS Alum and soon-to-be ALC graduate Trey Moore will serve as an Assistant Coach for both teams.
“This is a very exciting time not only for our Athletic program but for as school as well. Alice Lloyd Athletics is growing, and this is another building block to give more student-athletes the opportunity to compete at the college level,” stated David Hatfield, ALC Athletic Director. “We are very excited for our coaching staff and know they will do an amazing job. Soccer is a growing sport, and to bring it to Alice Lloyd College will only make us stronger in our campus community.”
Coach Driskill is eager to begin building the Soccer program from scratch saying, “I am excited to be named as the first soccer coach in school history. I see this as another opportunity to build a successful program at ALC.”
Coach Lander went on to say “I am really excited for this opportunity and to give the kids a chance to play the sport they love close to home. I am eager to meet and work with the first-ever soccer team(s) in Alice Lloyd College history. Lastly, I want to thank ALC for opening up this chance to better our community.
