Owensboro, KY: The Alice Lloyd College Eagles got off to a solid start, and rode that momentum to earn a convincing 71-61 victory over the Brescia University Bearcats. The River States Conference regular-season finale took place Saturday, February 20th.
In the opening half, ALC played solid ball. They would see junior guard Chandler Stewart and junior forward Will Philpot propel their club to a lead after twenty minutes of play.
As the second half began, ALC would get good minutes from senior guard Noah Young and sophomore forward Damon Tobler. A solid team effort helped keep the hosts at bay, as ALC held on for the double-digit lead.
For Alice Lloyd (15-5), Stewart drained 6-12 field goals to lead the way with 16 points. He also dished off a game-high 7 assists. Philpot drained 7-10 shots to finish with 14 points, while Young and Tobler hit double digits with 12 and 10 respectively.
The Caney Club finished shooting 60% (30-50) from the field and 23.1% (3-13) from long range. They connected on 88.9% (8-9) from the charity line.
BU (3-11) was paced by Ricky Shuford with 19 points. His squad finished shooting 47.9% (23-45) from the field and 41.7% (11-24) from behind the arc. They finished at 72.7% (8-11) from the foul line.

The Eagles return to action on Monday in the opening round of the River States Conference Tournament, when they host these same Brescia University Bearcats in a 5pm showdown.
