Pippa Passes: On November 10th, the Alice Lloyd Eagles hosted the Boyce College Bulldogs. In a high-scoring affair, the Eagles prevailed, 94-90.
In the first half, the visiting club came out strong. Behind the red-hot shooting of guard Bailey Benham, the Bulldogs pulled out to a double-digit lead.
Fortunately, the Eagles started to connect on some shots of their own. Paced by the 17 first-half points courtesy of junior guard Chandler Stewart, the game ended up tied, 49-49, at the half.
In the second half, the Pippa Passes crew continued to have a tussle. Fortunately, Stewart sunk a huge jumper late and then put the contest out of reach with two clutch free throws.
For ALC (4-0), they produced a balanced attack as five players reached double figures. They were led on the night by Stewart, who finished with a career-high 31 points. He connected on 10-19 field goals, including 6-12 from deep. He was followed in scoring by sophomore guard Jared Strickland, who pumped in 20 points. Also reaching double digits was senior guard Noah Young, with 12, junior forward Will Philpot, with 11, and sophomore forward Damon Tobler, with 10.
Junior forward Colyn Sturgill chipped in with 8 points and led the team with 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Philpot was the steals leader, with 3.
Alice Lloyd connected on 51.4% (37-72) from the field and 36% (9-25) from long range. From the charity line, they sank 61.1% (11-18). Additionally, they registered 39 rebounds, 9 steals, and 16 assists.
The Bulldogs (1-2) were led by Benham with 30 points. His club connected 47.5% (28-59) from the field and 46.9% (15-32) from a long-range. From the foul line, they shot 79.2% (19-24). They also had 37 rebounds, 4 steals, and 10 assists.
The Eagles return to action on Thursday, November 19, when they play host to Campbellsville- Harrodsburg in a double-header with the Lady Eagles at 5:30 pm.
