Joplin, MO: The Alice Lloyd College Cross Country Team was honored today as two of their own were named to the NCCAA DII All-American squad. Only the top five finishers in the NCCAA National Cross Country Tournament receive this award, so only the absolute best-of-the-best are honored.
For the Alice Lloyd College Lady Eagles, sophomore Carlee Salyers was one of the elite recipients. Salyers, a native of Wise, Virginia, finished 5th at the nationals on November 14th. She completed the 5K course of 3.1 miles in 20:51.72. This is the second consecutive year she has received this honor.
In addition, four members of the Lady Eagles were also named as NCCAA Scholar-Athletes. To receive this honor, one must be a junior academically and maintain a minimum 3.4 GPA. They were Morgan Arthur, Hannah Bryant, Carlee Salyers, and Abigail Webb.
For the Alice Lloyd College Eagles, senior Ryan Morris was one of the elite recipients. Morris, a native of Dryden, Virginia, finished 4th at the nationals on November 14th. He completed the 8K course of 5 miles in 27:21.71. This time also set a new school record for the men. This is the second consecutive year he has received this honor.
In addition, Morris also finished 10th in the NAIA River States Conference Tournament held on November 7th in Rio Grande (OH) with a conference tournament school-record time of 28:23. In addition to being named to the seven-member RSC Second Team All-Conference squad, his placement earned him a spot in the upcoming NAIA Men’s Cross Country Nationals. This event will take place in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on April 9th.
