Pippa Passes, KY: On Friday, November 6th, the Alice Lloyd College Lady Eagles volleyball squad, was in action in the semi-final match of the Mideast Regional Tournament. The contest was a thriller before the Michigan squad pulled out the nail-biting win.

GC jumped ahead in game 1 and led 20-14 before the hosts made a furious comeback. Grace would get a big kill, however, to take the opener 25-23.

In Game 2, the score was close throughout and was knotted at 19-19. Unfortunately, the Michigan club closed on a run to win 25-20.

Not willing to see their season end in that fashion, Alice Lloyd played their best match in Game 3 and battled all the way. Despite this, the Lady Eagles found themselves trailing 24-19. Amazingly, the Pippa Passes crew regrouped and received 3 huge kills to spark a 6-0 run and tie the score. Unfortunately, Grace scored the final two points of the contest to seal the deal, 27-25.

Grace would later go on to upset nationally-ranked Johnson University in the championship and earn the Mideast region’s automatic bid to the nationals.

On the day for ALC, sophomore Callie Richardson, junior Jasmin Hamilton, and freshman Brooklyn Cheek led in kills with 9, 6, and 5. Sophomores Adrianna Riley and Jenni Droke registered 11 and 9 digs. Freshman Caroline Parsons led the way in assists with 10 and added 8 digs.

Alice Lloyd closes out their year with an 8-17 record against a very challenging schedule. Although the squad loses two fine seniors, the good news is that the team returns a great deal of talent, and knows the potential is there for this group to go to an even higher level in 2020-21.
