We split the Female Student-Athlete of the Week honor between Wise, Virginia, cross country sophomore Carlee Salyers and Kingsport, Tennessee, sophomore volleyball player Jenni Droke.
In the ultra-challenging Greater Louisville Classic at Tom Sawyer Park, with a total of 104 runners from over 10 schools, Salyers paced the team in the 5k (3.1 miles) as she broke the tape at the finish line in a season-best time of 20:51. Her mark helped her to finish in 15th place out of the 104 participants.
In three volleyball matches last week, Droke led the club each game in digs. At Rio Grande, she paced the way with 9 digs. At Johnson University (TN), she produced 18 more. She concluded the week by registering 20 big digs against defending champion Bob Jones University. She finished the week averaging 5.2 digs per set.
