We award the Male Student-Athlete of the Week honor to Harlan, Kentucky, cross country junior Alex Lewis, and also recognize the men’s cross-country team.

In the ultra-challenging Greater Louisville Classic at Tom Sawyer Park, with a total of 83 runners from over 10 schools, Lewis paced the team in the 8k (5 miles) as he sprinted across the finish line with a career-best time of 27:38. Additionally, his dynamic performance set a new ALC record for the fastest 8K in school history.

In addition, Lewis was also named as the NCCAA Cross Country DII Student-Athlete of the Week for his outstanding performance.

We also wish to recognize the other members of the men’s cross-country squad who placed and helped set a school record at the Louisville Classic. For the event, five Eagle runners broke the tape in under thirty minutes: Alex Lewis, Anthony Hidalgo, Ryan Morris, Owen Lindsey, and Noah Stevenson.

This marks the first time more than two runners have finished under the 30:00 barrier in school history.
