Pippa Passes, KY: On Tuesday, October 6th, the Alice Lloyd College Lady Eagles volleyball team hosted Midway University. The Eagles put up a good tussle before eventually falling in straight sets to their cross-state foe. Below is a summary of the contest.

In the opening game, the hosts played neck-and-neck with the visiting Eagles before Midway pulled away late from a 20-20 tie with 5 final points to earn the big win, 25-20.

Game 2 was eerily similar. The two clubs battled to a 19-19 stand-still, but the visitors unloaded a late flurry to win 25-20.

In do-or-die game 3, the Central Kentucky squad would hold a slim 11-10 advantage before slowly extending the lead with an 8-1 burst. Midway would then hold on until the final point and sweep the day with the 25-18 win.

On the night for the Lady Eagles, freshman Caroline Parsons (7) and sophomore Adrianna Riley (6) paced the squad in assists while sophomore Jenni Droke (25) and Parsons (14) led the way in digs. Senior McKenzie Brewer added 13.

Sophomore Callie Richardson (6) paved the way in kills while freshman Brooklyn Cheek contributed 5 more on the day.

The Lady Eagles return to action this Thursday when they play host to Rio Grande University in a 5 pm showdown.
