On September 5th, the Alice Lloyd College Lady Eagles volleyball team journeyed to Cincinnati for their first game of the season to face the defending USCAA National Champions, UC Clermont. They followed that up on Monday by hosting Grace Christian University (Michigan) and Appalachian Bible in a tri-match. Below are recaps of the three contests.

September 5th

ALC had a challenging season road opener against a quality club. In the first game, the two squads battled before the hosts pulled away down the stretch to win 25-19. UC looked solid in game 2 and earned a big 25-18 victory. Alice Lloyd College battled in game 3 but fell by a 25-17 score.

On the day for the Eagles, Adrianna Riley led the squad with 10 assists. Brooklyn Cheek led in kills with 7 while Jenni Droke, Caroline Parsons, and Mckenzie Brewer each recorded 7 digs.

September 7th

Grace Christian University 25 25 25

The two squads displayed a solid effort, but in the end, the Michigan club would win in three sets.

Grace Christian University roared out of the gates in game 1 and then had to fight to hold on for a 25-18 decision. ALC would then play close in set 2, before falling late,25-21. The third game was tight, but GCU pulled away to close the day, 25-19.

On the day for the victors, Caroline Parsons led with 13 assists and Sierra Dawson led with 7 kills. Adrianna Riley paced the team 7 digs.

The two squads displayed a solid effort as neither refused to back down. In the end, ALC would make a valiant comeback to win in five sets and earn a split on the day.

Alice Lloyd College roared out of the gates in game 1 for a 25-17 win. The hosts would then drop the close win in set 2, 25-21. The third game was a nail-biter that went to ABC, 25-23.

Game 4 was a must-have for the Lady Eagles and they came through with a 25-17 advantage to force the tie-breaker. The fifth set was a battle, but the hosts led ahead from the start to win 15-12.

On the day for the victors, Caroline Parsons and Adrianna Riley led in the assist column with 20 and 18 respectively. Jenni Droke and Riley recorded 12 and 10 digs each. Elizabeth Mcintosh, Reiley McCoy and Sierra Dawson tied with 6 kills apiece.
