Rio Grande, OH: – The Alice Lloyd College Running Lady Eagles/ Eagles Cross Country teams journeyed to the Buckeye state for their second race of the season as they participated in the always-tough Patty Forgey Invitational at Rio Grande University over the weekend.

The women’s squad opened the event as 45 individual runners from seven different schools toed the line for the 5K (3.1-mile) race.

For the day on a challenging course, ALC finished 4th and was led by sophomore Carlee Salyers, who cracked the top ten in a solid time of 21:53, good enough for 10th place. She was followed by newcomers Jordan Riley, who crossed the line in 14th position with a time of 22:45, and Sarah Cecil, who finished in 18th position with a time of 23:01. Senior Rachel McCoy, finished in 23:10, while sophomore Cara Acey was the crucial fifth finisher for the team in 24:04.

Junior Brooke Vanover (24:11), freshman Peyton Rader (24:46), senior Morgan Arthur (24:50), junior Hannah Bryant (24:50), sophomore Lauren Bryant (25:42), and junior Abigail Webb (26:31) also gave a spirited effort to the cause.

On the men’s side of things, 62 individual runners from seven different schools toed the line for the 8K (5-mile) race on a tough course.

Alice Lloyd finished 5th and was led by junior Alex Lewis, who finished in 13th place overall with a very solid time of 28:58.

Freshman Anthony Hidalgo (31:10) and senior Noah Stevenson (31:56) were the next two Eagle finishers, while freshmen Micah Blankenship (32:19) and Owen Lindsey (32:45) were the fourth and fifth runners to cross the line.

In addition, junior Jacob Bush (33:33), freshman Chris Strickland (35:30), freshman Sean Cooper (35:32), junior Austin Lee (39:11), and freshman Austin Adkins (59:11) showed good effort as well.

Alice Lloyd will return to action on October 3rd, as both squads travel near Louisville to participate in the highly competitive and prestigious Greater Louisville Classic. The start time is at 10:00 am.
