The Alice Lloyd College Athletics Department has announced the addition of Junior Varsity Women’s Basketball for the upcoming season. Mason Schroeder will become the first Women’s Basketball Junior Varsity head coach in ALC history.
Schroeder was introduced to coaching after his baseball career at ALC was cut short due to injury. He began helping with the Lady Eagles Volleyball and Softball teams as a student assistant and began building his coaching resume by joining the Lady Eagles basketball team in the spring. Varsity Head Coach John Mills stated that when the possibility of starting a JV team was discussed, Schroeder was the immediate choice. “He was a great fit for the program. He volunteered his time during the spring semester this past season and was a valuable asset to our third consecutive National Tournament run.”
In addition to his new head coaching position, Schroeder will continue to assist the varsity team along with the volleyball and softball teams. David Hatfield, ALC Athletic Director, said, “Mason has been a vital member of the Athletic Department staff. The entire Athletic Department would like to congratulate him on being named the first ever Women’s Basketball JV Head Coach.”
