NCCAA Announces DI Men’s Basketball All-Mideast Region Squads

GREENVILLE, SC – The NCCAA DI Mideast Region has also announced its DI Men’s Basketball All-Region Team for the 2019-20 season. The voting was conducted by the coaches of each member school in the region.

Alice Lloyd College placed two players on the elite squad. Senior guard Blake Smith was named a first-team selection. He currently leads the entire NCCAA in scoring (26.4ppg) and leads the club in steals (26). He is also second in assists (2.3apg). Smith was also named First Team All-Conference by the NAIA’s River States Conference.

Junior Noah Young was named to the second team. Young is second in scoring (10.7ppg) and leads the team in assists (3.7apg). He also ranks in the top ten in the nation in assist/turnover ratio.

In addition, sophomore forward Will Philpot and senior guard Ian Lee also received votes for the team. Philpot is ranked in the top ten nationally in rebounding (9.6rpg), while Lee is second on the club in both three-point baskets made (59) and steals (23).

The Coach of the Year was also announced. This is presented to the coach of the regional championship squad. Alice Lloyd College’s Scott Cornett earned this award for leading the Eagles to a 72-62 victory over Kentucky Christian in the decisive contest.

Alice Lloyd will now advance to the 2020 NCCAA DI National Championship on March 18th in Winona Lake, Indiana.
