Mrs. Lloyd knew many of her graduates by name and stayed in constant contact with them throughout their additional schooling and careers. She cared for her students while they were on the banks of Caney Creek and when they were away. The ALC Office of Alumni Relations seeks to continue Mrs. Lloyd’s legacy by regularly and eagerly contacting graduates through various platforms in order to see how the leaders of Appalachia are improving the region. In recent years, the Office of Alumni Relations sought to honor ALC Alumni and encourage their annual support by implementing Alumni Purpose Day. On this day, the College’s wonderful alumni have banded together in the past two years to make the event a success. Blessed by ALC Alumni’s support, the Office of Alumni Relations will be hosting the third annual Alumni Purpose Day on June 11th, 2020

During this day of fundraising, alumni and the campus community come together to participate in giveaways and alumni social media interaction as well as ALC trivia and games. The activities provide an upbeat and welcoming atmosphere along with ample opportunities for alumni to combine efforts in support of their alma mater. “Alumni Purpose Day has been a tremendous success in our fundraising efforts, and we couldn’t be more grateful for the excitement it has generated,” said Teresa Grender, Director of Alumni Relations.

ALC is truly thankful for the generous support of its alumni throughout the years. In the U.S. News and World Report 2020 Edition of Best Colleges, ALC alumni ranked #1 for giving among all regional colleges and universities, and #6 for giving nationally. The rankings are undeniable evidence that ALC alumni are making a tremendous difference for the College and future generations of Appalachian leaders.

Don’t forget to mark your calendars for June 11th, 2020 and look for exciting updates on the day’s events by going to ALC and ALC Alumni’s social media platforms.
