Pippa Passes, KY:  The Alice Lloyd College Eagles combined solid defense with an efficient offense and blasted the Brescia University Lady Bearcats 82-56. The River States Conference matchup took place on Saturday, February 8th.

In the opening quarter, the two squads both played evenly. However, the visitors got a late bucket and would lead 23-22 after ten minutes.

In the second stanza, ALC rode the long ball to reverse their fortunes. The home squad would score the first 13 points of the period and use this momentum to propel them to a 47-33 cushion at intermission.

The ladies from Caney Creek would not score as easily in the third period, but their defense completely shutdown BU. The home squad won the scoring war in the third period,12-8, and the Lady Eagles would take a 59-41 lead into the final quarter.

In the last stanza, the Lady Bearcats would play hard, but the balanced Eagle attack was too much to overcome as the hometown squad pulled away for the convincing win.

For the Lady Eagles (11-13; 3-10 RSC), five players would reach double figures. They were led on the night by junior guard Ali May with 14 points. Fellow classmate, guard Haley Hall, would score 13 points and grab 7 rebounds while senior guard Katie Moore contributed 12 points and 8 assists. Senior forward Mckayla Akers and junior center Alex Clifton each added 10 points.

Alice Lloyd finished shooting 42.2% (28-64) from the field, including 36.1% (13-36) from long range. They connected on 86.7% (13-15) from the foul line. They also added 43 rebounds, 21 assists, and 3 steals.

For West Division foe BU (8-19; 4-9 RSC), Alicia Salazar had 9 points. Her club shot 30.5% (18-59) from the floor and 42.9% (6-14) from behind the arc. They sank 56.3% (9-16) from the foul line. They also added 35 rebounds, 13 assists, and 6 steals.

ALC returns to action this Saturday, February 15th, when they face the Indiana University Kokomo Lady Cougars in an important conference matchup at 1:00. The game will also mark senior day for the squad.
