MIDDLETOWN, Ohio — With the completion of the regular season on Saturday, Feb. 22, the 2019-20 River States Conference Men’s Basketball Championship qualifiers and bracket were released RiverStatesConference.com. The eight-team championship will be held Feb. 26-March 3 at campus sites around the conference with the winner advancing to the NAIA Division II National Championship.

WVU Tech is the No. 1 overall seed as the RSC Regular Season Champion. The Golden Bears, ranked No. 20 in the NAIA Division II Top 25 Poll, are 21-7 overall, 15-1 RSC as the top seed out of the RSC East Division. WVU Tech will have home court throughout the championship and opens up Feb. 26 by hosting Alice Lloyd College, the No. 4 seed from the RSC West. Alice Lloyd is 13-15, 7-9 RSC.

The other quarterfinal matchup on that side of the bracket features No. 2 seed IU Kokomo (24-6, 13-3 RSC) from the RSC West hosting No. 3 seed Point Park (Pa.) University (15-15, 7-9 RSC) from the RSC East.  IU Kokomo is ranked No. 16 in the country. The IU Kokomo-Point Park winner will advance to play the WVU Tech-Alice Lloyd winner in the semifinals on Feb. 29.

IU Southeast claimed the other No. 1 seed as the RSC West Division champion. The Grenadiers are 20-7 overall, 13-3 RSC, and they host Ohio Christian (9-19, 6-10 RSC), the No. 4 seed from the RSC East, in the quarterfinals Feb. 26.

IU East is the No. 2 seed from the RSC East at 20-10 overall, 14-2 RSC. The Red Wolves are “receiving votes” nationally and host No. 3 seed Midway (Ky.) University (15-14, 7-9 RSC) from the RSC West in the final quarterfinal contest. The IU Southeast-Ohio Christian winner will meet the IU East-Midway winner in the semifinals.

The higher seed hosts each game of the championship. The finals are March 3. WVU Tech is already guaranteed an automatic bid to the national tournament as the RSC Regular Season Champion. If the Golden Bears go on to win the conference postseason championship, then IU Southeast will receive the RSC’s other national bid as the RSC West Division champion.
