New Albany, IN: The NCCAA Mideast Regional Alice Lloyd College Lady Eagles traveled to the Hoosier state on Saturday, February 9th, to face highly regarded NAIA foe Indiana University Southeast. Due to the wet weather conditions we have had so far, the Lady Eagles were surprised to be able to play, and they faced a tough challenge that should benefit the squad down the road. Following are recaps of each contest.

GAME 1

IUS-14; Alice Lloyd-0

On a wild weather day, the hosts opened up the scoring with 1 run in the first inning, and added 2 more in the second inning on 3 hits. They would then bust the contest wide open with a big 9 run third inning on 8 hits, and close out the game with 2 more in the fourth.

For ALC, junior Mckenzie Brewer smacked a double while fellow junior Jada Estep and sophomore Alyssa Clark each added a single. Unfortunately, those were the only hits of the game for the visitors. Pitcher Hannah Ogg earned the victory, while Brewer took the pitching loss. She allowed 9 earned runs and 7 hits. Sophomore Haley Howell appeared in relief, allowing 7 hits and 5 runs.

GAME 2

IUS-7; Alice Lloyd- 1

ALC looked to come back in the second game to earn a split, but they fell short in the finale. The Lady Eagles scored their run in the opening inning. Jada Estep singled, then promptly stole both second and third base. She then trotted home on Alyssa Clark’s single. Unfortunately, IUS answered in the bottom half. After their first two sluggers flied out, they promptly scored 4 runs on 5 hits to leap ahead 4-1. The hosts would add 1 run in the second and 2 more in the third to lead 7-1.

ALC sophomore Abby Stambaugh opened the sixth with a single as her squad looked to rally. However, the threat ended with her stranded at second. The home club then closed the contest out from there. On the mound, pitcher Graci Cornett earned the victory while freshman Kursten Napier suffered the loss. She allowed 7 runs on 12 hits while whiffing 4 batters.
