Kokomo, IN – The Alice Lloyd Eagles fought hard but fell on the road to River States Conference opponent and nationally ranked #13 Indiana University Kokomo 95-103 on Saturday, December 14th.

The Eagles and Cougars exchanged points and the lead throughout the first half of the game. The Eagles entered the locker room at the half trailing the Cougars by one, 47-48. During the second half, the Cougars looked to pull away as they quickly developed an eight-point lead over the Eagles. The Eagles used a balanced scoring effort to bring the game to within three at the 1:31 mark but a late three by the Cougars with 00:19 remaining on the clock pushed the score to 95-101. The Cougars closed out the game at the free-throw line and the final score read 95-103.

Senior guard Blake Smith led all scorers with an impressive 36 points. He also added five rebounds. Fellow senior Ian Lee added 13 points and two rebounds while junior guard Noah Young contributed 12 points, two rebounds, and one assist. Sophomore Colyn Sturgill and freshman Noah Caudill led the team with six rebounds apiece.

The Eagles connected on 49% (36-73) from the floor, including 7-21 (33%) from the three-point line. They hit 16-19 from the free-throw line and added 35 rebounds, five assists, five blocks, and five steals.

The Eagles (7-6, 1-2) return to action on Tuesday, December 16th as they travel to Pikeville, Kentucky, to face the UPike Bears at 4:30 PM.
