Pippa Passes: The Alice Lloyd Eagles defeated the visiting Kentucky Christian University Knights 98-91 in a game played on Monday night, November 4th.
In the opening half, the hosts jumped to a quick 13-8 advantage following five quick points from senior guard Ian Lee. The visitors stayed close before ALC pulled out to a double-figure lead. When junior point guard Noah Young drained a bucket at the buzzer, the Eagles would manage to take a 54-41 cushion into the locker room at intermission.
In the second half, the Knights would reduce the score to 54-47 before ALC went on an 11-4 burst to take their largest lead of the night (65-51) with 15:00 remaining. Even though the home club never lost their advantage, KCU would continue to battle and would get within five points on three separate occasions. Fortunately, the Eagles refused to break and pulled out the nice victory.
For ALC (2-2), senior guard Blake Smith led the way with 22 points. Young was right behind with 20 points while adding 3 steals. Lee, along with freshman Tanner Perdue, added 14 points each while sophomore guard Bryce Slone chipped in with 11. Sophomore forward Will Philpot added 9 points and led in rebounds with 6. Three different players each had 2 assists.
Alice Lloyd connected on an excellent 54.3% (38-70) from the field, and 39.1% (9-23) from long range. From the charity line, they sank 73.7% (14-19). Additionally, they registered 40 rebounds, 8 steals, and 8 assists.
Kentucky Christian (0-2) was led by Noah Back with 25 points. His club connected on 46.4% (32-69) from the field and a solid 41.9% (13-31) from long range. From the foul line, they shot 52% (13-25). They also had 34 rebounds, 3 steals, and 4 assists.
The Eagles return to action next Tuesday, November 12th when they host the highly regarded Campbellsville University Tigers at 7:00 pm.
